Though back-to-school is not one of our four seasons, it is
often looked at as being a season. The school
year calendar is how many homes plan events around. Getting ready for a new school season is a
perfect time to get your children's bedrooms back in order.
Before heading out for the annual school shopping trip check
out our following tips to help you save some green!
Organization saves you $$:
De-cluttering bedrooms should be the first thing you do
before heading out to the stores!
Go drawer by drawer of your child's dresser to accurately
know what fits, thus avoiding unnecessary purchases.
Don't neglect the closets.
Closets are great places where all sorts of items hideout! I know from experience that lost socks were
found when closets were de-cluttered and organized. The "need" to purchase new socks
disappeared!
Go through last year's school supplies, to get an accurate
assessment of needs. Three ring binders
can be reused another year. Pencils that
have a lot of life left in them may just need an eraser cap on top. Round up all school scissors before making
new purchases. How is your stash of
colored pencils and crayons? Colored
pencils typically last a couple of school years before needed to be
replaced.
Mechanical pencils last a long time. It is just a matter of getting refills. With back-to-school specials going on now, it
is a great time to pick up some if you need to.
Green Clean Wrap Up:
Don't forget to vacuum or sweep out the closets. Wipe baseboards down with Brightly Green
Multi-Purpose Cleaner to trap and wipe away dirt and dust all-naturally.
Vacuum under beds too.
For hard wood floors, spray Brightly Green Wood Floor Cleaner on a
dusting mop head and wipe away dust and dirt from under the beds.
Thoroughly green cleaning any area that has been de-cluttered
will clean the air and remove any allergens that were in the dust. Follow up with weekly green clean routines to
keep the dust and germs at bay!
Now that you have an accurate tally of what you do and do
not have for this school season, you can confidently and purposefully
shop. Don't forget garage sales and
resale shops are options too for school clothes.
Start a new school tradition—"one in one out" make
a new purchase, donate one similar item from home. This will help to manage what you children
have and keep their dresser drawers and closets neat.
