Keep Your Plumbing Flowing Freely

No one wants to call for a plumber—right?  (No offense-plumbers.)  Keep your pipes working well through weekly, routine green cleaning.   In this way, you will be able to monitor the state of your sinks and tubs/showers, especially, as these are the trouble spots for clogs.
Routine green cleaning bathrooms and kitchen sinks also helps to prevent calcium build-up around the faucet area.  Hard water is the culprit of calcium buildup, but  there is an easy, eco-friendly, green clean way to take care of it.

Read on for green clean maintenance tips to keep the plumbing flowing freely…

Weekly:
In the bathroom:  Brightly Green Daily Shower Cleaner on shower/tub walls and on shower doors.

Sinks and tubs wipe down with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner
Toilets inside and out clean with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner

In the kitchen:  Faucets and sinks get the wipe down with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner or Brightly Green Stainless Steel Cleaner.

Bi-weekly:
For slow moving drains:  pour ½ cup baking soda in the drain, followed by 1/2 cup vinegar and let it sit for about half an hour, then pour boiling water slowly down the drain.

Monthly:
Remove calcium deposits from faucet/sink areas with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner.  Simply spray the faucet area liberally with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner, then allow the cleaner to sit on surface for about an hour.  Wipe it clean and see the difference!  Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner is the safest way to de-calcify your faucets and sinks!  It is safe enough to decalcify natural stone surfaces, without compromising the stone's sealant!

If you have a water softener, check it monthly to be sure you have adequate salt in it.  Soft water helps maintain the efficiency and longevity of your water using appliances.
Clean your dishwasher with a manufacturer recommended cleaner.

Clean and disinfect your garbage disposal with vinegar ice cubes.  The vinegar ice cubes will freshen and disinfect the disposal while sharpening the blades.

Bi-annually:
De-calcify faucet aerators.  Take the screens off of your bathroom and kitchen faucets and soak them in Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner for about an hour.  Rinse clean.  To de-calcify shower heads, fill a plastic baggie half-way full with Brightly Green Bathroom Cleaner and carefully wrap it around the shower head.  (An extra set of hands would help!)  Secure it on with strong rubber bands.  Leave on for about a few hours, then carefully remove the bag.   Turn shower on to wash away loosened sediments.

Use a safe, eco-friendly septic cleaner to keep the tank working properly.

Annually:
In mid to late fall, drain and shut off your outdoor water lines.  If you live in a region that is already experiencing frost conditions, don't put off draining and shutting down your outdoor water lines!
