Accomplishing more by doing less is not as farfetched of an
idea as you might think.
Clarification
of what is truly important holds the key.
Add this component to your daily green cleaning routines and you will
have a winning combo!
The dilemma: We create lists that incorporate
everything imaginable that we want to accomplish so as not to forget anything. However, by the end of the day defeat sets in because
we focus on all that we did not
complete. This "failure" can
lead to a lack of motivation for tomorrow's tasks. Repetitive short comings increase a sense of
being overwhelmed and further spiral the descent from productivity.
On the first list write down everything that you want to accomplish over the next one--two weeks. (Remember, you don't want to forget something!)
On the second list prioritize your week. Focus
on the essential "to do's" to complete for that day! Assign those tasks particular days of the week to be
completed on. For best productivity,
keep your key tasks to no more than three per day. Not only will you do a better job on the
task, but you will also have a greater sense of accomplishment which in turn
will fuel greater productivity!
The Gains: Simplifying your tasks by limiting how many
you will complete each day boosts:
confidence, personal satisfaction, greater sense of accomplishment, better
focus for future goals/tasks, and greater productivity!
In addition, you protecting your weekends, freeing them
from becoming "weekend catch up days."
Playing catch-up is not fun, especially when it is beautiful outside and
a hike in the woods or a day at the beach is calling your name!
Daily Cleaning
Routines: Bite-sized, green cleaning
tasks also keep the flow of household management—manageable. A good idea would be to include two daily cleaning
tasks to your Daily Top Three "To Do" list.
