Success in your endeavors/resolutions/goals
and dreams (however you coin the term for making a successful 2017) happen when
you have these two bedrock stepping stones in place—Order and Routine.
Without Order,
coupled with Routine, no matter what
you set out to accomplish, success will most likely be temporary at best.
ORDER sets life in
alignment.
Take for example the importance of proper vehicle wheel
alignment.
This is a service that
maintains proper order. The wheels
need to be perpendicular to the road and parallel to each other. This order benefits you through better fuel
economy, longer tire life, as well as safety on the road through better
control.
Disregarding the need for wheel alignment puts unnecessary
strain on multiple systems within your vehicle.
The brake shaft, steering system, and suspension can be jeopardized;
resulting in unnecessary and expensive repairs.
In addition, the safety of your passengers and other road travelers may
be at risk if your wheels are not properly in order—aligned.
So, what’s the take-away…
When we have Order
in our lives, we have a clear, friction-free (or nearly friction-free) ability
to achieve our goals.
We have a higher percentage rate of accomplishing necessary
tasks throughout the week.
Successful completion of weekly tasks pays “dividends” in
weekends free from catch-up work.
Our weekends can be spent in building relationship with family,
being adventurous, or time spent in leisure.
Not only are we taking back our weekends, but Order propels
us closer to our goals through opening time and space for next steps in what we
are resolved to achieve this year.
To me, it is an amazing phenomenon that “Time” opens in my day when there is greater Order in my life.
Order, cannot sustain itself without the second bedrock
stepping stone—Routine.
Routine is the glove on the hand of Order.
Think about the possibility of one existing without the
other. One of two scenarios would occur;
either you would be constantly seeking to establish Order, or you would be running
on a gerbil wheel of Routines that take you nowhere.
How well-aligned; mentally, physically, relationally, etc.
would you like to be?
For Routines to best support Order, they reflect to some degree
your natural rhythms of life.
For example; when are you most productive mentally? That
time of day should be when you are engaged in most of your mental
work. When are you most creative? Feed your creativity by taking that time of the day to
dream/strategize/create. What time of the day are you most relationally
engaged? Spend time building
relationships then.
If following your natural life rhythms are not conducive to
your schedule, try to schedule routines as close to your natural rhythms as
possible or be pro-active to set aside time specifically for the activity your
need to be engaged in. Sometimes it’s
all in our mindset.
When it comes to the routine of maintaining a clean home and
work environment, let’s think back to our vehicle maintenance analogy. You would not take your vehicle in to be
routinely serviced to a mechanic you did not trust, right?
As you strive to establish routines that keep the order you
seek, put that same care and attention into maintaining a safe, non-toxic, clean
environment for home and office.
Your cleaning routines should not be entrusted with cleaning
products that are not 100% all natural, sustainable and non-toxic. Using quality, sustainable, eco-friendly cleaners will extend the life of the items in your home and office. Also, there is growing evidence suggesting
that the use of all-natural green cleaners will protect you and your family
from respiratory illness and hormone imbalance. Brightly Green Concentrate Cleaners
is “Gold” certified by Green America. Brightly
Green IS a green cleaning company you can trust!
If you have not already begun to, take an hour or so this
weekend and think about what Order you need in your life to accomplish what you
want/need to this year. Then begin to
establish that Order and keep it going with thoughtful Routines!
