Green Clean for Holiday Guests & Gatherings!

Let’s be honest, we have guests coming to visit with us, not our homes.  When you go to your family or friends home, are you paying attention to how well they have dusted or vacuumed?  I am not!  I care about catching up with whomever it is I am visiting with!  So, more than likely, your guests think the same way.

I recently visited with family and was greeted by a very welcoming handmade sign that read:  “Welcome Family”. These are the types of things your guests will remember, not how well your home looks!   Nevertheless, you will still want to cover at least a few of the basics.  Let’s narrow it down to four  areas:  1) Front door, 2) Vacuum, 3) Kitchen, 4) Bathroom.

Front Door:  First Things First!
A clean entryway –says...
“Welcome, I’m glad you’ve arrived!”

First impressions set the tone,
and help to hide flaws in other places.

Vacuum/Sweep Your Floors
A quick vacuum through the room and use of the hose attachment around furniture and trim boards should do the trick.  For hard wood floors, do the same general sweeping and then touch up around furniture and trim.

Kitchen:  “The Gathering Room”
Clean & clutter-free countertops show that you have not been surprised at the arrival of guests.  Put them at ease by not scrambling to clear away clutter.  Wipe down countertops with Brightly Green All Natural Granite & Tile Cleaner.  Make your sinks sparkle with Brightly Green All Natural Stainless Steel Cleaner.

Bathroom:  Don’t Forget the Loo!
Out of all the rooms in your home, the bathroom should get the thorough, green clean!  When cleaning the floor use Brightly Green All Natural Granite and Tile Cleaner, also wipe down the baseboard trim.  Thoroughly clean all toilet surfaces with Brightly Green All Natural Bathroom Cleaner.  Sinks and showers need a good scrub-down too with Brightly Green All Natural Bathroom Cleaner!  If your faucets show hard water stains, there is an easy, non-toxic way to be rid them of those nasty stains.  Read our previous blog on getting rid of unwanted hard water stains!
Top off the cleaning by adding a little water and a couple of drops of lavender essential oil into the toilet bowl brush holder to give the room a natural clean scent when finished!

Bonus Tip:  Let the fresh air in!
Crack windows for a little bit to allow the fresh air in and the toxins out!  Crisp, fresh air can’t be beat!

For overnight guest accommodations:
Guest Rooms:  Do a microfiber wipe-down of all wall corners and ceiling corners—eliminating cobwebs.  Launder all linens with Brightly Green All Natural Laundry Wash.  If you need to wait on making up the bed, simply tuck the sheet set into the pillow cases and keep it in your linen closet.  When you are ready to make up the bed, all you have to do is grab the pillow case and everything will be inside!  After all, who wants to hunt for matching sheets and pillow cases?  Dust nightstands and dressers with Brightly Green All Natural Wood Floor Cleaner—not just for wood floors!
Finishing touches--Place freshly cut evergreens and berries in a vase or jar to naturally give the room a seasonal scent and décor.  This added touch again gives a welcoming feeling to your guests.  You can duplicate the idea in the guest bath as well!
You did it!  Now enjoy your family and friends!
