Decreasing
stress requires you to take time to prioritize what matters most to you during
this season. Stop and take a look at your budget—assess where you are at, and
make the necessary adjustments. Keeping
yourself on track with your budget is a top key in reducing stress.
Are you
overcommitted? Are you flurrying from
one event to another? Look at what is
really possible for you to do and take off your plate what can be considered to
you as nonessential. Does it really
matter if you do not bake those two dozen cookies? We often overeat during the holidays
anyway! A green clean home, though important
doesn’t mean your house has to look like you are “showing it” for a real estate sale! Your health is important; doing too much can weaken
your immune system.
So, how can you relax and have a “Happy
Holiday”?
FIND TIME FOR PERSONAL RELAXATION
·
Take
a walk
·
Take
a hot bubble bath
·
Snuggle
up in a blanket with the book you have wanted to read and never feel you’ve had
the time to.
FIND TIME FOR FAMILY RELAXATION
With
families on the run so much—why not slow down and create some family time at
home?
·
Create
a family meal together: “build a taco or
pizza” night
·
Card/board
game night
·
Family
PJ party with a rented movie, complete with blankets & sleeping bags in the
family room
·
Tell
stories around the dinner table. One fun
game that brings laughter around the table is to have one person start telling a
story and the next family member continues the story, the story continues as
each family member has a part in creating the story.
·
Take
a walk as a family through the neighborhood or to a park (unless you live in South Dakota and are experiencing -3 degree temperatures!)

We are all
blessed in some way and should take the time to be thankful and enjoy the
company of our dear family and friends!
